9-1-1 Surcharge - $1.75 Rate Set

During the 2012 legislative session, a new Statewide 9-1-1 Board was created and tasked with determining a statewide rate to fund all local 9-1-1 districts throughout the state. Baldwin County 9-1-1 Director, Chris Heger was one of 13 individuals appointed by Governor Bentley to serve a 4 year term on this board.

After months of work, gathering funding information and determining the needs throughout the state, the 9-1-1 Board set the state rate at $1.75. This new surcharge will be applied to all telephone services each month to include wireline residential and business service, as well as wireless services. Prepaid wireless service customers will pay the surcharge at the retail point-of-sale when purchasing phone cards. This new rate became effective August 1, 2014 and all residents of Baldwin County will see the change on their monthly bill.

If you have any questions about the 9-1-1 rate for Baldwin County residents, contact Director, Chris Heger at 251-947-69-1-1 or by email.
