Tuesday, October 13th
from 09:00 – 09:50
Dick Dickinson
Senior Director for Public Safety
Telecommunication Systems (TCS)
“NSI Phones…What Do We Do?”
NonService Initiated Phones (NSI) are an example of an old
adage: No good deed goes unpunished. Originally intended to facilitate
emergency communications by people without access to cell phones, NSI phones
have become a serious problem due to malicious pranksters who use the
untraceable phone to harass PSAPs. This presentation will look at the history
of NSI phones and will address possible remedies that have been directed by the
FCC.
