This session will provide an overview of the issues surrounding text messaging and 911 access, as well as what work is in progress to resolve those issues from an operational perspective. Topics to be discussed include training and education needs, limits of text messaging, lessons learned from those public safety entities that have already developed local programs and more.
Speaker Bio
Toni D. Dunne has over 19 years experience working within the public safety industry. Currently, she is employed by Intrado/Positron as a PSAP Training Specialist working with public safety professional across the nation. Prior to this, her experience included serving as a PSAP Relations Specialist, and ten years as the Training Program Manager for the Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications. She also is a past president of the TX NENA and APCO chapters and currently serves on the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Executive Board as the Southeast Region Director.
