Procedures for Alabama. Finding out we don’t know as much as we thought AFTER
the fact can result in a disaster. Come listen to Ms. Mary Pons enlighten us on
the proper bid procedures for our business.
Speaker Bio
Ms.
Mary Pons was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After a year at Southwestern
at Memphis (now Rhodes) College, she returned to the University of Oklahoma in
Norman, Oklahoma, where she received a B.A. in Political Science in May 1980.
Ms. Pons moved to Alabama in 1980, graduating from Cumberland School of Law
(1984).
She began her career with the State of Alabama in 1990.
Since November 1996, Ms. Pons has served as the staff attorney for the
Association of County Commissions of Alabama. In this capacity, she drafts
legislation and represents county government in legislative and administrative
activities. She provides daily counsel and advice to counties, assists with
training programs, and serves as county representative on several committees.
She oversees the County Joint Bid Program and works on other special projects of
the Association. She authored a Reference Manual for county engineers,
regularly writes articles on different issues affecting county government, and
has assisted in many projects writing and revising model policies, resolutions,
and regulations for counties.
Ms.
Pons was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1984 and to the Oklahoma State Bar
in 1988.
